The college baseball season came to an end Wednesday night as Virginia defeated Vanderbilt 4-2 to capture the first College World Series title for the ACC in about six decades.
Though Florida State took two of three from the Cavaliers during the regular season, the Seminoles were handled by rival Florida earlier this month in the Super Regionals — the same Florida team who would be eliminated by Virginia.
FSU finished the 2015 season with a record of 44-21 and finishes in the top 15 in each of the five major polls. The Seminoles ranged from 12th to 15th in the final set of polls with the Collegiate Baseball Poll having them the highest at No. 12.
Florida State’s worst finish was in the Baseball America Poll, where the Seminoles finish No. 15. The USA Today Coaches Poll and the NCBWA Poll each had FSU finishing 13th. In the D1Baseball Poll, Florida State finishes No. 14.
