It was a big week for former Florida State athletes playing professionally, but the best week belonged to one of baseball’s brightest stars.
Buster Posey is the Professio”Nole” Athlete of the Week for the week of August 3rd through the 9th after hitting .400 in seven games this week for the San Francisco Giants.
Posey was 10-for-25 at the plate this week with a home run, 5 RBIs and three runs scored. For the year, Posey ranks third in the National League with a .332 batting average and 75 RBIs.
As a team, the Giants have struggled of late, losing four straight, but remain in the thick of the playoff hunt. San Francisco is three games back of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the N.L. West and 3.5 games back of the Chicago Cubs for the final wild card spot.
