The Atlantic Coast Conference concluded its countdown of the conference’s 25 players to watch on Tuesday and three Florida State players made the list. FSU’s three appearances on the list was tied for the most with Virginia Tech, but each of the Seminoles on the list were ranked in the top 10.
Junior kicker Roberto Aguayo made the list at No. 10. Aguayo was named an Consensus All-American in 2014 after winning the Lou Groza Award as a freshman in 2013. Aguayo is 48-for-52 on field goal attempts in his career and has never missed a kick shorter than 40 yards. Aguayo was the only exclusively special teams player on the list.
Corneback Jalen Ramsey came in at No. 4 on the list. Ramsey is listed as a preseason first team All-American by a number of outlets. Ramsey did just about everything last season for the Seminoles ranking the top 3 on the team in tackles for loss, interceptions, sacks and forced fumbles. Ramsey’s duties this season could include returning kicks.
The top FSU player on the list has yet to play a down for the Seminoles and that’s quarterback Everett Golson, who appeared at No. 2. Golson transfers to Florida State after an up-and-down career with Notre Dame. Golson has 4,850 career passing yards and 55 total touchdowns. Golson is heralded as the front-runner to beat out Sean Maguire for the starting quarterback job, but has yet to be given the nod.
Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson took the top spot with Pittsburgh running back James Conner and Georgia Tech quarterback Justin Thomas coming at No. 3 and No. 5 respectively.
Clemson wide receivers Mike Williams and Artavis Scott were listed together at No. 13 as were Louisville linebackers Keith Kelsey and James Burgess at No. 16 and Miami running backs Joseph Yearby and Gus Edwards at No. 19. The entire Virginia Tech defensive line held the No. 9 position.
