The preseason Associated Press Poll was released Sunday and 3-time defending ACC champion Florida State managed to land the No. 10 spot.
The Seminoles were ranked eighth when the Amway Coaches Poll was released earlier this month, but the AP Poll had FSU two spots lower. Like in the AP Poll, Florida State was the highest ranked ACC team. Clemson and Georgia Tech were the only other two ACC schools ranked in the poll, coming in at No. 12 and No. 16 respectively. Virginia Tech, Louisville and N.C. State all received votes.
Defending national champion Ohio State topped the poll by receiving each of the 61 first place votes. TCU came in second while Alabama begins the year ranked third. Baylor and Michigan State rounded out the top 5.
Auburn and Oregon were ranked sixth and seventh while USC and Georgia were ranked eighth and ninth just head of FSU.
Florida State has now been ranked in the preseason AP Poll’s top 10 four times in six years under head coach Jimbo Fisher. The Seminoles topped the preseason poll a season ago. FSU will open the 2015 season against Texas State on September 5th.
