For the second straight week, the Florida State offense was fueled by the running game as the Seminoles disposed of South Florida 34-14 on Saturday. In the victory, one FSU skill player had a day fans won’t soon forget.
Sophomore running back Dalvin Cook is the Florida State Football Player of the Week for Week 2 after having the second best rushing day ever for a FSU player.
Cook finished the game with 266 yards rushing on 30 carries and three touchdowns. Cook scored on runs of 74, 24 and 37 yards and averaged nearly nine yards-per-carry.
In just two games this season, Cook has 422 yards on the ground and five rushing touchdowns. Cook has also now broke the 100-yard rushing mark in five straight games, which is one game shy of tying Warrick Dunn’s school-record. The only Seminole to finish with more yards on the ground than Cook had Saturday was Greg Allen, who went for 322 yards against Western Carolina in 1981.
Cook will look to tie a school-record and further his Heisman Trophy case on Friday night as the Seminoles open ACC play at Boston College. Cook rushed for 76 yards against the Eagles last season.
