FSU Football Player of the Week: DeMarcus Walker

It wasn’t pretty or comfortable on Saturday, but Florida State got its 26th straight victory over an ACC opponent with a 24-16 win at Wake Forest. The FSU defense consistently bent on Saturday, but never broke as senior safety Tyler Hunter saved the day with a diving interception in the end zone. The top performer this week however, plays along the Seminoles’ defensive front.

DeMarcus Walker is the Florida State Football Player of the Week for Week 5 after a stellar performance in Winston-Salem.

Walker, a junior defensive end, finished with five tackles Saturday, but also had a game-high 1.5 sacks. Walker forced a fumble at the end of the first half, which was recovered by FSU to thwart a potential scoring opportunity for the Demon Deacons.

For the season, Walker is tied for the team-lead in sacks. Walker also ranks second on the squad this year with 2.5 tackles for loss, which is behind only linebacker Ro’Derrick Hoskins.

Walker and FSU will return home Saturday to face rival Miami. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 P.M. eastern time.
