The Seminoles lost a hard fought game against the No. 1 ranked Clemson Tigers by a score of 23-13. It was Florida State’s second loss of the year, bringing its overall record to 7-2 and conference record to 5-2. Even though the Seminoles failed to pull off the upset, there was a consensus from the Noled Out Staff as to who deserved the game balls for the week:
Offense
Unanimous Game Ball: Dalvin Cook, RB
Sophomore running back Dalvin Cook continued to chip away at the record books on Saturday, amassing 194 rushing yards and a touchdown with a 9.2 yards-per-carry average. He is now 12 yards away from breaking Warrick Dunn’s single-season FSU rushing record of 1,242 yards set back in 1995. The sophomore tailback started his day with an electrifying 75-yard touchdown on just the second play of the game. Cook is now up to 1,416 total yards and 13 touchdowns on the season.
Defense
Unanimous Game Ball: DeMarcus Walker, DE
Florida State junior defensive end DeMarcus Walker earned himself yet another game ball by being especially disruptive with five tackles (including one tackle for loss) and two pass break-ups. Walker led a unit that sustained a fair amount of pressure on Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson and anchored the FSU defense in a good performance.
Special Teams
Unanimous Game Ball: Cason Beatty, P
The punter redemption tour continues with another good outing by senior Cason Beatty. Beatty had six punts with an average of 44.2 yards-per-punt. His longest was a 54-yard punt and he had two punts land inside the Clemson 20-yard line.
