Results from the Top Rank promoted boxing card at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi:
“Mikey” Garcia (21-0, 18 KOs) wasted little time in disposing of veteran Tomas” El Norteno” Villa (22-7-4, 14 KOs), dropping Villa twice before the referee stepped in and halted the bout. The official time of the stoppage was 1:07 in round one. With the win Garcia captures the vacant USBA featherweight title.
Denver’s Mike Alvarado (27-0, 19 KOs) proved why he is wildly considered one of the sports most talented young contenders with an impressive second round knockout over Lenin Arroyo (20-12-1, 4 KOs). The official time of the knockout was 0:42 in round two.
San Antonio’s Raul “El Cobrita” Martinez (26-1, 15 KOs) scored an eight round unanimous decision over John Molina (27-12-2, 18 KOs). Martinez was able to control the fight despite hurting both his hands in the first and second rounds.
Unbeaten Houston prospect Omar Henry (9-0, 8 KOs) continued to rack up the knockouts by bludgeoning Orphius Waite (5-1-1, 3 KOs) over two rounds. The official time was not announced.
Alfonso “El Tigre” Lopez (19-0, 15 KOs) remained undefeated with a dominant six round unanimous decision over Gabriel Holguin (25-7, 9 KOs). Scores were 59-56, 59-56, and 60-54.
Juan Jose Fuentes (5-1, 2 KOs) scored a six round unanimous decision over Esteban Almarez (9-3, 4 KOs) of Houston. Scores were 59-54, 59-54, and 58-55.

Corpus Christi’s own Jerry Belmontes (12-0, 3 KOs) scored a four round majority decision over Gill Garcia (2-1). Scores were 39-37, 39-37, and 38-38.
