While the luster of Amir Khan tarnished a little following his knockout loss to Breidis Prescott back in 2008, his star shines brighter than ever following his dominating performance of Paul Malignaggi Saturday night. Malignaggi is of all things a superior boxer, Khan’s power, technique, and poise kept Malignaggi from using his greatest asset, his feet. Khan’s stock should be at an all-time high in light of this breakout performance. Malignaggi was game, but that is all he was, and Khan exploited this to his great benefit. While Khan is still young, he has the tools to wreck havoc in the division. A fight with Marcos Maidana seems to be a natural fit.
Junior Welterweight Fight
Victor Ortiz (27-2-1, 21 KOs) UD 10 Nate Campbell (33-6-1, 25 KOs)

Ortiz was riding high on the hype that surrounds a talented young prospect until he ran into the TNT infused fists of Marcos Maidana. Since then, Golden Boy has been on a mission to rebuild the luster, and confidence, of Ortiz. In Campbell they had a viable name who was clearly on the downside of his career. So the stage was set for Saturday night’s domination at the hands of Ortiz. It wasn’t the most entertaining fight, but for a fighter in search of getting his mojo back, one could not have asked for a better outcome. To put it simply, Ortiz was too much of everything and he battered a game Campbell over ten rounds in rout to the lopsided decision. This was a solid win for Ortiz who seems to have gotten his career back on track.
Super Bantamweight Fight
Roberto Marroquin (14-0, 11 KOs) KO 2 Arturo Camargo (22-15-2, 19 KOs)
Without a doubt, Marroquin is one of the brightest young prospects in the game. The Oak Cliff native blends speed and concussive power into a potent mix of boxing acumen. Top Rank, his promoter, has been enamored with his career thus far and the buzz surrounding Marroquin by boxing pundits is quickly reaching a fever pitch. Saturday nigh in Sinaloa, Mexico, Marroquin put forth another impressive performance beating Mexican journeyman Camargo. After dropping Camargo in the opening round, Marroquin finished things off in the second. Marroquin continues to improve with each outing, expect him to challenge for a minor title soon.
