Rumor Central: Ray Ximenez Jr. to Fight on Pacquiao-Margarito Undercard?

Pleasant Grove’s Ray Ximenez Jr. certainly isn’t considered an unknown commodity in these parts. After all, Ximenez was an amateur standout with a #1 ranking by USA Boxing. But, like many fighters with Olympic aspirations, Ximenez and his family soon found that the maneuvering through the political process of USA Boxing to be a far more daunting a task than boxing in the ring. Disenfranchised by the amateur experience, Ximenez made the gutsy decision to turn pro.

Ximenez made his pro debut last month of the undercard of the Charles Hatley – Emmanuel Augustus fight at QuickTrip Park. Showing all the talent and poise of a seasoned vet, Ximenez dominated and outclassed Chris Larrazolo over four rounds. But, the question is asked, when are we going to see Ximenez fight again?

A couple of days ago, Ximenez confirmed on his Facebook page that he will be fighting on the undercard of the Pacquiao-Margarito fight at Cowboys Stadium. It will be inarguably the biggest boxing promotion to ever take place in North Texas on November 13. The eyes of the world will be on North Texas for this huge event, and fighters participating on the undercard are sure to see a monumental surge in popularity. Not that Ximenez is struggling in ambiguity, but the exposure of being on a fight of that magnitude would be tremendous.

So far, nothing is set in stone but fight fans in North Texas can hope that more local fighters will be tabbed to represent the DFW that night.

Ximenez is one of my favorite boxers to watch spar. The kid has one speed: hellacious. If you don’t believe me, check out my oft-pimped Gym Wars coverage with Ximenez and Arthur Trevino waging war on each other in a sparring session.
