I’ve just about ran out of superlatives to describe the levels of ingenuity and creative lengths Ricky Sanchez and the crew over at Premier Boxing Club go to in the name of promoting amateur boxing. If you have ever been to an amateur boxing event that deviated from the norm when it comes to the boxing tournament, chances are Premier had a hand in it.
Of course, this notoriety prompted us to award then 2010 Boxing Club of the Year honors, but more importantly, it gave amateur boxing in North Texas a much needed shot in the arm.
This Saturday night, Premier will once again give boxing fans a treat when the present “Boxing Bowl” a multi-bout amateur tournament set along the backdrop of a professional prize fight. All the pomp and pageantry of a professional boxing event will take place but it will be our regions talented amateur who will be on full display. Music entrances, professional ring announcer, and all the other bells and whistles that make attending a prize fight so exciting will be on display.
If that wasn’t enough to get you excited, Saturday night’s event will also feature a number of special guests, including Brandon Williams of the Dallas Cowboys. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door.
