With all due respect to boxing, the unquestionable truth is that mixed martial arts (MMA) is rapidly becoming the combative sport du jour in America. Nowhere is this more illustrated than right here in the North Texas Metroplex. While there has long been a great tradition of boxing gyms in North Texas, the fact is that new gym are not being as established as rapidly as their MMA academy counterparts. It seems that every month a new MMA gym is opening up somewhere in the DFW Metroplex.
This Saturday we can welcome anther MMA academy into the fold as Phalanx MMA Academy will hold their grand opening at their brand new facility in Fort Worth. Phalanx MMA is the brain child of fighter/promoter Alex Madrid who along with fighter/trainer Durwyn Lamb are ushering in a new level of fitness and fight training. Phalanx MMA will offer individuals a chance to train and learn the vast nuances of MMA under the tutelage of battle-tested fighters. In additions to Lamb, who will serve as a striking coach, Phalanx MMA will feature a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor as well as a grappling instructor.
The public is strongly encouraged to come out this Saturday, March 5, to see firsthand what Phalanx has to offer. In addition, the grand opening will feature sparring from local amateurs and professionals as well as some grappling.
