Look, I’ll spare you all the numerous superlatives that I have used over the years to describe Fort Worth’s Jose “El Loco” Hernandez. All you need to know is that kid can flat out bang. While I would never label him the most graceful boxer, nor would I say he possess freak levels of athleticism, but what trait Hernandez does posse in abundance is heart. I don’t need to wax poetically about the hellfire Hernandez brings to the ring. If you have ever seen him fight, then you know the deal.
With Hernandez essentially sitting out the entirety of 2009, it has been great to see the quit kid from the Northside go hard in 2010. Despite dropping three fights in a row (shacking of evident ring rust) Hernandez has rebounded in 2011. Last month Hernandez fought to a disputed draw against heralded prospect Mickey Bey and in true warrior form is scheduled to fight again tonight.
Hernandez will take on undefeated prospect Luis Ramos (17-0) in the main event of the Golden Boy Promotions card taking place at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, CA. The fight will be televised on Telefutura on their “Solo Boxeo” telecast.
Ramos is no easy task, but what we have come to expect from Hernandez is a fighter with no fear.
