The Golden Gloves first day of fights was non-stop action from bout 1 to bout 46, literally. The fights started at 7pm and ended approximately about midnite without any breaks. It started off with the 55 pounders aging from 8 to 10 years old and it ended with the 165 pounders. From beginning to end it was a very exciting night for the boxers, their teams and most of all, those in attendance. And the attendance was a full house at the Hella Shrine Temple in Garland, Texas. Including NTFS’ Roland Gamez who refereed several matches of the night. Boxing fans, come out and support the Dallas Golden Gloves and the future champions of boxing. The following are the results of the first day at the Dallas Golden Gloves.

Standout bouts:
Alejandro Aguilar v. Nikolas Martinez
The 55 pound Alejandro Aguilar put Nikolas Martinez on the canvas twice in
his fight, but Martinez was able to outpoint him in the end.
Carlos Adame v. Eric Anton, 132 lbs.
The big punches started in the open division when Carlos Adame and Eric Anton stepped in to the ring. Although Adame was the taller fighter, the scrappy and quick handed Anton landed the cleaner punches. Both fighters came to fight and the action really picked up in the middle of the second round as Anton connected with tons of punches and uppercuts. In the final round, Anton let his hands go and although Adame was forcing the action, it was a little too late and Anton went on to win.
Kai Webb v. Francisco Paredes, 165 lbs.
Another outstanding athlete of the evening was a boxer named Kai Webb a/k/a “Tree Top.” In his match against Francisco Paredes, it was apparent why he had that nickname. He was a tall athlete and he had good boxing skills. Enough skills to keep his opponent out of reach with his jab and to outpoint him for the win. Keep your eye out for this young boxer.
Fernando Vazquez v. Alex Marin, 114 lbs.
The most entertaining boxer of the night was a 114 pound boxer named Fernando Vazquez. He put on a boxing clinic against a very good fighter named Alex Marin. The flashy quick handed and quick footed Vazquez moved around the ring like a little professional. And even after having a point deducted, he still won his match. If he continues to fight like this, he could eventually be a great boxer.
Thomas Leija v. Joseph Rumore, 132 lbs.
One of the hardest and most accurate punchers of the night was Thomas Leija. In his match against the taller Joseph Rumore, he was able to get inside and land some very hard punches to outpoint the tough Rumore. Look out for this tough punching fighter.
Sung Hong v. Eric Siegel 165 lbs.
Finally, I have to give Sung Hong the award for the boxer that landed the most right hands in a first round than anyone of the night. In the first round he landed a ton of right hands to the head of the very tough Eric Siegel. He continued to land them through the entire fight and although he tired at the end, he was able to outpoint Siegel. This is a fighter that you must watch, because he leaves it all in the ring.
