On Saturday, March 16, 2012, Larry “Slomoshun” Smith (10-8, 7KO’S) from Dallas, Texas will be fighting for the Texas Middleweight Championship and the NABU Regional Title against Jorge Suarez (5-0, 3KO’s) from San Antonio, Texas. He will not be fighting James “Boogie” Freeman as reported earlier. But if they do fight, it could settle it all in a third and final fight. Nevertheless, Smith will be fighting a rematch from October of 2011 against the tough Suarez. In that fight, Suarez won by a decision, but Smith was not at 100 %.  According to Smith, who trains year round, he was a little under the weather, but he fought anyway. This time, Smith told NTFC that he is 100% ready to step into the ring and bring the belts back to Big “D.”

In 2011, Smith was on a month to month boxing marathon fight schedule from June of 2011 to November 2011. He is coming into this fight after a two month absence from the ring and ready to go.  He will be stepping onto the scales at 147lbs in a scheduled 8 round co-main event bout. Smith said to get ready to see “fireworks” and the fourth of July in March! He also said that after he beats Suarez, he is going to beat his older brother too!

The main event on the card will be Texas State middleweight champion James “Boogie” Freeman (9-4, 7KO’s) against an opponent to be named. This fight will be for the North American Boxing Union Middleweight title. Other fighters scheduled on the card include Anthony Reyes, David Lujan, and Larry White.
