The warm confines of Fort Worth’s MetroFlex Gym played host to more than people pumping iron Saturday afternoon as sixteen of North Texas’ talented fighters and grapplers came together to not only prove dominance on the mat, but more importantly, help out a North Texas family in need.
“Fight for Cash” was a unique 16-man grappling grand prix that featured North Texas fighters and grapplers all in the efforts to help raise money for young Cash Williams. Born blind from septa-optic dysplasia, a birth defect that leaves one with underdeveloped optic nerves, young Cash has seen miraculous gains in being able to see light sources and colors thanks to controversial stem cell therapy in China. Saturday’s event was put together to raise money of the Williams family so that they could return to China for more treatment.
The tournament could not have gone any better as the spectators in attendance were treated to some exemplary grappling skills from some true warriors. A great time was had by everyone in attendance and the fact that the end benefit was for an unquestionably great cause only made the day that much more special.
