November 26 – The Texas Lightweight Title will be on the line Friday night at the Hurst Conference Center during Mid Cities Mayhem, a seven-fight card from Standing 8 Promotions from Fort Worth.
Jose Rodriguez will face Pedro Torres in the title fight. Rodriguez, 6-0 with 2 knockouts, is preparing for his first title fight in his young career. He is a 19-year-old college student from Pleasant Grove, who also works at a Dallas hotel full-time. Rodriguez is studying civil engineering at Mountain View College.
Torres is 6-5, but five of his wins have come from a knockout. He’s coming off a close and controversial loss to unbeaten Metroplex-based fighter Manual Rojas.
The card will also feature the return of Chap Huggins. The former Fort Worth-based Golden Gloves fighter is returning to the ring after a three year battle with cancer.
Both Rodriguez and Huggins will be available for interviews at the weigh-in for the card on Thursday, November 29, 1 p.m., at Bronco Sports Bar and Grill in Hurst, 900 Airport Freeway.
The action starts at 7:30 p.m. on November 30 at the Hurst Conference Center, 1600 Campus Drive in Hurst. Tickets start at just $25 and are available at www.standing8promotions.com, www.dfwboxing.com, or www.ticketalternative.com.
Mid Cities Mayhem is a presentation of Standing 8 Promotions and sponsored by Bud Light Platinum, Hyatt Place and Bronco’s Sports Bar.
