Northtexasfisticuffs boxing caught up with undefeated junior welterweight “Mighty Mo” Hooker (6-0-1) from Dallas, Texas as he was waiting for his flight to the Big Apple, New York City.  He is scheduled to fight on the Hurricane Sandy Benefit Broadway Boxing Card brought to New York by Lou DiBella Entertainment as part of his Broadway Boxing series.  This boxing extravaganza will be held at New York’s Roseland  Ballroom and the benefits of this event will go to the American Red Cross for victims of Hurricane Sandy.

It will be held on Wednesday, December 19 in the city that never sleeps and those were Mighty Mo’s intentions for his scheduled opponent, Cameron Kreal from Las Vegas.  When asked what were his plans for his opponent, he said “I’m gonna knock him out in the second round,” with a  little giggle at the end.  The last time he made a prediction to me like that, it turned out exactly as he said.  Arnie Verbeek, his manager, and owner of Maple Avenue Boxing Gym in Dallas, Texas told northtexasfisticuffs that this would be a great opportunity for his undefeated fighter.  “It is something that would give him exposure to fighting in other cities, and what could be a better place than New York.“

Not only is Mighty Mo an up and coming exciting fighter with a big right hand that has knockout power, but he also has a “heart of gold” according to Verbeek.  And that is because Hooker plans on donating his earnings to the victims of hurricane Sandy.  What a great gesture coming from such a young boxer working his way up in the boxing ring, especially with the holidays coming up.

The tall “Mighty Mo” Hooker is stepping into the ring at 140 pounds in a scheduled four rounder with five big knockouts and the last three fights with knockouts not going past two rounds.  He is trained by Jesus “el Matador” Chavez, former WBC super featherweight and IBF lightweight champion, out of the Maple Avenue Boxing Gym in Dallas, Texas.  He will also be accompanied by Manny Hernando, his strength and conditioning coach and Coach Ali, all from Maple Avenue Boxing.
