Former World Champion Paulie Ayala has big plans for his promotion in 2013 and will hit the New Year with a bang as he continues his Friday Night Fight Series on January 18 at the immaculate Cendera Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Ayala will feature an all-star lineup including his top two fighters, Samuel “The Main Event” Clarkson (6-1, 5KO’s) and Manuel “The Punisher” Rojas (7-0, 2KO’s).
Clarkson is coming off a devastating KO loss in his last fight to veteran Don Mouton in one of DFW’s best fights of 2012, but Clarkson is ready to jump back in the ring to headline an event full of top local talent. Rojas displayed tremendous toughness on that same card, winning a split decision against a tough Pablo Torres who after the loss to Rojas became the Texas State Champion.
In addition to Clarkson and Rojas, Ayala will feature 2008 U.S. Olympian Luis “Latin Legend” Yanez (6-0-1), Maple Ave Boxing Gym’s Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker (7-0-1, 5KO’s), former amateur sensation Ray Ximenez (9-0, 3K0’s) and former UFC standout Will Campuzano (0-1).
Holding true to his goal, Ayala is not only put on exciting shows for the local fans, but doing his part to revive boxing in DFW. Ayala sees a bright future for boxing in North Texas.
“Boxing is far from dead as Pacquiao and Marquez displayed in another classic battle and even with the surge of MMA, both sports show they can co-exist,” stated Ayala. There’s a lot of great talent coming out of DFW right now and hopefully in the next few years we will see some world champions,” added Ayala.
Ayala has two fighters in Clarkson and Rojas that have dreams of world titles and with their fan friendly style and a strong local following will continue to be showcased. Their opponents for the upcoming show along with the other fighters on the card will be finalized and announced in the coming days.
