It has been nearly a year since the last time Little Elm’s Lior Shporen climbed the steps to enter the realm of combat that is an MMA cage. The birth of a child and the demands of running his own company leave precious little time to endure the rigors of training. Not that Shporen relished being away from the cage. After all, this is a man who devoted countless hours and miles on his car to train with some of the best fighting institutions in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Fighting is in the blood of Shporen which is why no one is surprised that his hiatus from the sport would be short-lived.
This Saturday night Shporen make his triumphant return to the MMA cage when he takes on Bilal Williams at XKO 24 in Arlington, TX. Never one to take an easy fight Shporen will find himself across the cage with a fighter in Williams who has gone 2-0 in his professional fighting career. While Shporen’s record bears the scars of a fighter undeterred in facing some of the best opposition in the region, changes seem to have been made to this training regimen.
Chief among these changes has been Shporen’s decision to train for this fight alongside Octagon MMA’s fight team. One of the most talent-filled fight teams, Octagon MMA is home to a number of fighters currently experiencing success in the UFC. As a result many local fighters are looking to hone their fighting skills under Octagon’s head coach Sayif Said. Shporen has worked hard to sharpen his game and training alongside one of the nations’ best fight teams is a surefire way to improve.
Shporen is a man who fights for the spirit of combat and competitiveness. His company, Floors to Ceiling Restoration, and the demands of fatherhood paramount in his life, but it is fighting that is in his blood. On Saturday night, Shproen will get to feed that craving.
