TCU Joins the Big East

Once again the Cincinnati Bearcats and TCU Horned Frogs will be in the same conference. TCU has agreed to join the Big East in all sports, starting in the year 2012. That’s pretty ominous. The TCU chancellor had this to say, “We transcend geographical boundaries … and historical contingencies.” That sounds like a thing people say. Anyway, the biggest take away is that the Big East has added another football program that will be good, and then suck. I kid TCU. Basketball wise, this means that instead of 3 teams you play twice, it’s only 2. That’s kind of a bummer, but oh well. TCU brings a lot of cache in football, right now, and nothing to basketball. But, in this era of having college football, more specifically college football money, drive everything, this is the move the Big East needed to make. Congrats to TCU.
