The Bearcats improved to 11-0 tonight, crushing the Miami Redhawks in the second half in route to 64-48 victory. The Bearcats were led by a career high effort by Dion Dixon, my best friend, who had 23 points on 7-16 shooting. Dixon got to the rim at will in the first half, and did so in the second as well. Dixon got the biggest basket of the game for the Bearcats. UC fell behind 27-20 in the first half, when Dixon hit the first UC 3 of the game, and drew a foul in the process. Even though he missed the free throw, UC went on a 17-3 run and never looked back. Ibrahima Thomas led the dominant rebounding performance by the Bearcats with 13, 7 on the offensive end. The Bearcats had 39 rebounds, 16 offensive. Thomas also added 11 points for his second double double of the season. Cashmere Wright also had double digits, scoring 12. The Bearcats shot only 38%, but held Miami to 36%. Miami hit 5 of their first 7 three pointers, and then went 1-13 to close the game. Miami star Julian Mavunga had only 7 points.
Cincinnati is 11-0. They should in all probability get win 12 on Thursday. This was another dominant road performance, that makes 3 if you think the Oklahoma game was dominant, and shows that this team has something a little special about them. A week from now, Big East play begins. From what I’ve seen so far, I think this team is ready for the grind.
