Cincinnati Gets Ranked

The new top 25 polls came out earlier today and the Cincinnati Bearcats see their names on both of them. The AP poll has Cincinnati in at 24, while the coaches poll has Cincinnati at 25, just edging out Baylor. I’m not entirely sure the Bearcats should be ranked. They have still played no one. More importantly, it’s Xavier week. I was already wary about this game with UC coming in undefeated, and now we have numbers by our name. If you’ve seen a Crosstown Shootout game, you know that modern history doesn’t sit well with the Bearcats anyway, especially when ranked. See last year as an example. Yeah, last year’s team was ranked. That’s how meaningless rankings are in January. But, congrats to the team for getting ranked. It was something that has fueled them lately, and hopefully it doesn’t put the fire out. With the schedule picking up with Xavier and Villanova this week, it god damn better keep the fire going. Let’s enjoy this today. Two years in a row with a ranking, I think things are back on the uptick.
