Huskies Best Bearcats

The sense of urgency that the Bearcats had in the last 3 games was not there this afternoon, as the Bearcats fell to 9-7 in the Big East with a loss to Connecticut, 67-59. The defense would be solid at time, but give up 3s in the first half. In the second, the Huskies went on a 12-2 run that the Bearcats wouldn’t recover from. The Bearcats looked to have momentum after taking the lead, but UConn answered with a 3 and never trailed again. Jeremy Lamb had 17-5, Kemba Walker 16, and Roscoe Smith and Shabazz Napier 11 to pace the Huskies. Yancy Gates had 14-8 for UC, but the fire didn’t seem to be there like it has been.

This was a disappointing outing. The Bearcats must believe the hype that they are in the NCAA tournament, because they played like the game meant nothing to them. It was like a ‘it’d be nice to win, but no biggie if we lost.’ When a team plays that like, they normally lose. The offense and defense were both issues. The offense settled for jump shots too easily, especially 3s. The defense watched UConn shoot 50%, including. 10-19 on threes. Anytime UConn needed a bucket, they got one. It’s not a season crushing loss, just a disappointing one.
