Bearcats Ring Victory Bell, Shut Out Miami

The game wasn’t very pretty, or very exciting, but the Cincinnati Bearcats made history by winning the Victory Bell for the 6th year in a row. The Bearcats defense was all over Miami, holding the Redhawks to 264 yards, -3 rushing. That’s the second week in a row UC has given up negative yards rushing. UC forced a pair of turnovers. One of them was a fumble recovery on a high snap for a punt, that JK Schaffer took in for his first career TD. Deven Drane had an INT in the red zone to help with the shutout. UC forced a goalline stand to start the second half, and Miami never threatened again.

The offense wasn’t that great. Zach Collaros had 3 turnovers. If that wasn’t bad enough, all 3 were in the red zone. 2 were poor throws on plays Zach should have thrown the ball away. The other was a fumble on a fake handoff, QB option type play. Isaiah Pead scored twice, but only had 49 yards.

The important thing is that the Bearcats won the game. 27-0 is a good score. They got their first shutout since 2006. Hell of an accomplishment. That’s something last year’s team would not have done. Folks, we have a good team on our hands.
