…while I’d love to start my game thoughts talking about what a great win this was, this night was marred by word of Callahan’s broken hand. Got to assume they’ll go with White until Prospal returns. Neither MZA nor Grachev are ready and Kennedy would never clear waivers.
…to the game, you can never count this team out. I thought for sure this game was destined for a 1-0 final. But as has been the case all year they stuck with it and took advantage of a Pens team on the second night of a back-to-back.
…the reason they were able to hang in for so long was Hank, who, as always, held down the fort until the rest of the team was able to find their game.
…welcome to the season Alex Frolov.
…first they shut down Ovechkin and Semin, then, with the exception of the first goal, Staal and Girardi are able to neutralize Crosby and Malkin.
…couldn’t have been happier with Boyle’s goal after jawing with Crosby then getting into it with Malkin.
…Avery took a bad penalty earlier in the game but his fight against Asham in the third period really seemed to spark the team.
…first time I can remember the Rangers getting some calls against the Pens as the Cook penalty and Dupius interference were borderline at best.
…while Christensen can be maddening, man does he have a sic wrist shot.
…Anisimov pretty much skated through the entire Pens team before scoring. I think he is officially back.
…speaking of being back. I thought Drury played a real effective game in his return. Rangers will really need his intangibles with Cally out.
…right back at it tomorrow night at MSG against Coyotes.
