Torts, Rangers Talk Lines, Game 1 & Bouncing Back

Jesse Spector at The Blueshirts Blog has these post practice quotes from today…

John Tortorella on putting EC on the top line with Gaborik & Prospal…

“Certainly, I’m not putting Erik in there for his defensive purposes,” Tortorella said. “He is a skilled guy, and has given us some good minutes at certain points during the year. After Game 1, there need to be certain improvements with our game, and certainly creating more offense is one of them.”

…EC is such a head case that he’ll either go shot less or score four points in Game 2 on a line with Gabby.

Christensen on the offense…

“I think we’ve got to be more consistent with our forecheck and be more physical,” Christensen said. “We just didn’t get a lot of quality chances. Obviously, once we get up 1-0, we’d love to get that second goal to give us a little more breathing room. But, you know, it’s a long series. I haven’t been in a lot of playoff games, but I’ve been through enough to know that you can’t just get too low. It’s one game, but I definitely think we can play better and more aggressive. There’s no reason not to be confident going into tomorrow.”

Henrik Lundqvist on responding…

“We’ve been pretty good at responding after tough games,” said Henrik Lundqvist. “We’ve been good coming back with a solid performance. But when you go into the playoffs, it’s not going to be enough to bounce back with solid performances. It needs to be bouncing back with a great performance, especially when you play Washington. We need everybody to play their best, and we have a good feeling. We believe in each other, we believe in the group that we can do it.”

Blueshirts United has more…

Wojtek Wolski on the need to stay patient…

We are a smart team, so we know what we have to do. We need to stay patient, play our game, and grind them down. There wil be great intensity out there in the series, and everyone in here is capable of raising their games.

Ryan McDonagh on his playoff debut…

“It was the most fun I’ve had playing hockey, even being in a road building. The fans were so loud, it was a packed house. They were cheering for every big hit and each scoring opportunity left and right. It’s just so fun to be a part of.”

…and it was fun watching you last night Ryan.
