Derek Stepan and Chris Kreider each had a goal for Team USA on Saturday, as the Americans roared back from an early 1-0 deficit and held off France 3-2 in IIHF World Championship tournament qualification-round play at Kosice, Slovakia.
Stepan and Kreider each of two goals this tournament.
Stepan ended the game with three shots in 19:38 of ice time to lead all USA forwards. Kreider, who scored the game winner, had two shots in 11:41 and Ryan McDonagh had no shots in 13:07 but finished plus-1.
Team USA moves on to its final qualification round game vs. Switzerland on Monday, all but assured of a spot in the quarterfinals. Only a loss in that game, combined another Swiss victory over Sweden and a Norwegian win over France, would keep the Americans out of the tournament’s final eight.
…what an unbelievable tournament this has been for these three. Every Rangers fans should be ridiculously proud.
