Update, 5:23 p.m.:
Erixon gave this quote after finding out about the trade…
“It is obviously very large and very unexpected. But it’s a dream come true. This is one of the greatest days of my life, “says Tim.

Here’s what Erixon is capable of…
Update, 5:15 p.m.:
Sather statement on the trade…
“Tim is an outstanding young defenseman with good size and mobility,” stated Sather. “He plays a complete, all-around game, and we feel he is an excellent addition to our developing, young defense corps.”
…seriously how is Sather able to turn a fifth round prospect and two picks into the Flames top prospect? Unreal.
Update, 4:53 p.m.:
Flames GM Jay Feaster on why he traded Erixon (via Zipay)….
“Once we realized we were not going to be able to come to terms…we wanted to make sure we turned that pick into an asset”
Update, 4:08 p.m.:
The Rangers have announced that they have traded prospect F Roman Horak (2009-5th) and two second round picks for Erixon.
Horak scored 47 goals combined in the last two years for the WHL’s Chilliwack Bruins.
…for a team with plenty of defensive prospects and a lack of offense I’m a little concerned with the Rangers trading away Werek and now Horak in the last month.
…and what’s up with all these Swedes?
Update, 4:00 p.m.:
Leslie Treff at Hockey’s Future says the Rangers will be giving up a prospect and a pick in the deal.
Update, 3:48 p.m.:
Larry Brooks tweets that Rangers have been given permission to negotiate a contract with Erixon and that a conditional trade is in place with Calgary.
Update, 3:21 p.m.:
If the Rangers acquire Erixon they will have until 5pm to sign him or he will go back into the draft. If Calgary doesn’t sign Erixon by 5pm they will obtain 53rd pick as compensation for Erixon going back into draft.

NYR believed to be hot and heavy in talks with CGY to get Erixon. Tim’s dad, Jan, play for NYR. Tim was born in Port Chester, NY. Stay tuned
Erixon was Calgary’s 2009 first round pick (23rd overall). Last year he had 5g, 19a with Skellefteå AIK of the Swedish Elite League.
…while it would be great to a have the Erixon family back with the Rangers organization, the Blueshirts are stacked with defensive prospects and I would hate to see them give up any true value for Erixon. Stay tuned.
