NHL.com has decided to re-draft the entire NHL and run a simulated season on NHL12 here is what the Rangers new team and lines look likeas drafted by Darryl Haberman…
New York Rangers (GM: Darryl Haberman)
Forwards
Jakub Voracek – Joe Thornton – Jaromir Jagr
Daymond Langkow – Matthew Lombardi – Radim Vrbata
Daniel Paille – Chris Kelly – Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
Paul Bissonnette – Jacob Josefson – Brandon Yip
Scratches: Erik Condra, Mattias Ritola
Defensemen
Mark Streit – Kimmo Timonen
Victor Hedman – Bryan McCabe
Tom Gilbert – Radek Martinek
Scratches: Brennan Evans
Goalies
Steve Mason
Semyon Varlamov
Review: Jagr is back on Broadway with a team that boasts a lot of speed and talent along the blue line. Streit can likely avoid moving since he was an Islander last season. A lot will be expected of Mason, who is replacing a three-time Vezina finalist in Henrik Lundqvist. This will be one of the more fun teams to watch this season.
Their predictions have the “new” Rangers making the playoffs.
…is it me or is this an awful job drafting by Haberman? I would much rather have the current Rangers team over this one. Jagr? Langkow? McCabe?!?!?!?!?
…and really, Mason and Varlamov? Really?
NHL.com also wonders if Brad Richards will be a difference maker for the Rangers.
…you all know where I stand on that question.
