Update, 2:34 p.m.:
Tortorella talks to Blueshirts United about what message he was trying to send the players this morning…
“I just think sometimes when you switch venues, especially coming this far, we forget what we are doing. It’s not to look at a beautiful area. We’re here to get ready for a hockey season. And as each day goes by it gets closer and closer, and we have a lot of work to do.”
Meanwhile, Dave Lozo at NHL.com has this from Ryan Callahan on today’s practice…
“It’s really nice to get a practice under your belt, get off the plane, just relax and get organized and settled in the city. We’ve been talking about the trip now for a long time, so to be here now and get settled, it’s a good feeling.”

Rosen has more on Torts sending a message to the team here.
…i tell you what, I feel bad for the players, because Torts is not going to allow them to use the various things the Rangers have going on this year (Europe, Winter Classic, MSG renovations) as an excuse for bad play. He’s going to be all over these guys. You wonder if at some point it’ll wear thin on the players. Hope not.
