Pat Leonard at The Blueshirts Blog reports that Tim Erixon will make his NHL debut on the Blueshirts’ third defensive pairing alongside Steve Eminger today. Tim’s father former Ranger Jan Erixon will be in the stands for the game.
Leonard adds that Mike Rupp skated this morning and will play after sitting out yesterday’s practice as part of a “maintenance day” for his sore left knee.
The newly acquired Jeff Woywitka was not on the ice this morning.
Tonight’s expected line-up:
Dubinsky-Richards-Gaborik
Fedotenko-Anisimov-Callahan
Wolski-Stepan-Zuccarello
Prust-Boyle-Rupp
McDonagh-Girardi
Del Zotto-Sauer
Erixon-Eminger
Here’s a quote from John Tortorella on tonight’s game:
“(I want to play) the way we played most consistently last year,” Tortorella said. “I think we have to be really simple tonight. I’m not sure how the ice is going to hold up. I thought (last year) we created an identity of how we wanted to play, and what we were as a hockey team pretty consistently. We want to go right back to it.”
