At some point today the Rangers will give us an update on the condition of Michael Sauer, who was forced to leave Monday’s night’s game against Toronto after taking a vicious hit by Maple Leaf Dion Phaneuf and hitting his head on the dasher.
Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record says if Sauer has to miss tomorrow’s game against the Lightning the Rangers will likely turn to Anton Stralman to replace him.
Prized defensive prospect Tim Erixon has missed four straight games with an undisclosed injury so he is likely not available.
…probably not a great scenario for the Rangers to be forced to go with a guy who has played exactly one NHL regular season game since last year. But apparently he’s good on the power play. At least that’s what I’ve been told.
