Winter Classic Notes: Game Moved to 3pm; McD Flu; Biron Helmet Cam; & Pics

-11

While I was out celebrating the New Year yesterday there were a number of Winter Classic items I wasn’t able to post, including these:

The NHL announced that the Winter Classic will start at 3 p.m., today. The game originally was scheduled for 1 p.m. The revised start time decision was based on tomorrow’s weather forecast and should offer optimal game conditions for players and fans.

…assuming this has a lot to do with how well the alumni game went after being moved back to 3 p.m.

Ryan McDonagh had to leave yesterday’s practice early with the flu, but will play this afternoon (via Pat Leonard). Andrew Gross says expect the same line-up as against the Panthers.

…assuming McD would have to be in the hospital for him to miss this one.

Yesterday the Rangers practiced for the first time at Citizens Bank Park. Here is a great pic of the players walking to rink…

Tortorella on the Winter Classic (via Blueshirts United)…

“I think it’s great for our game,” said Tortorella after practice and a team family skate outdoors. “It’s great for our league, but as a coach I am thinking about one thing: it’s a divisional opponent (Monday), it’s two points, and we want to win the hockey game. That’s all we are concerned about right now. Sure there is hype, but this has been a great experience for us, and our players will be ready to play.”

…can’t believe the game is finally here. Couldn’t be more excited.
