Injury Updates: Eminger Out of Sling; No Timetable for Sauer; Staal Could Play Thurs

Andrew Gross at Rangers Rant reports that Steve Eminger (separated shoulder) was able to take his right arm out of the sling for the first time in two weeks.

Eminger is expected to miss at least two months.

Eminger on the injury…

“It was bad timing for a number of reasons,” Eminger said of the injury as he was having a very solid season with two goals and two assists in 30 games as he had moved into the top four due to Sauer’s concussion. “I know I’ll be back, it’s a matter of time. I’m not a negative person. I’m not going to sit around all day and mope because of my shoulder. I’ll be with the team, I’ll come to the rink, I’ll be happy. I’ll just be normal.”

Gross also reports that Mike Sauer (concussion) was also at Citizens Bank Park to be part of the on-ice team photo in their Winter Classic uniforms. Gross adds that there’s no timetable for Sauer’s return.

…while it’s great that these two were able to take their picture with the team, it looks like it might be awhile before we see either on of them in a Rangers uniform.

Meanwhile, Larry Brooks at the New York Post says, don’t be surprised if Marc Staal makes his season debut on Thursday against the Florida Panthers at MSG.

…with the way Staal has been progressing I knew we’d probably see him soon, but Thursday? Awesome!!!!
