Yesterday, John Tortorella was a guest on NHL Live and discussed Neal Auricchio Jr., the Woodbrige police officer and Iraq war hero assaulted by Flyers fans following the Winter Classic, by saying…
“We feel if he had to go through the crap he went through out there, that he’s part of us.”
Torts confirms that the Rangers have invited him and some friends to a game in February (reported to be Feb. 27th game vs. Devils) and will also bring him down to the locker room to meet the team.
Torts adds that he hasn’t seen the video of the assault and doesn’t plan to.
There still have been no arrests and Auricchio will undergo facial surgery as a result of the attack.

Here’s the video of Torts on NHL Live (talks about Auricchio at 9:00 mark)…
…once again, unreal job by the Rangers and Torts. Love the head coach saying Auricchio is one of us. That is going to be one memorable day for him and one he deserves.
