Good friend of the blog Brian Thompson of NBC 4 New York sends me this video of Rangers fan and Iraqi war veteran Neal Auricchio speaking for the first time since being being assaulted after the Winter Classic in front of Gino’s Steaks in Philadelphia…

…great to see Neal doing so well. Must be real tough for him to watch that video.

For information on Auricchio’s attacker’s bail be increased, click the “Read More” tab below.

Meanwhile, Mike Newall at the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Common Pleas Judge Paula A. Patrick quadrupled the bail for Dennis Veteri, the Flyers fan who assaulted Auricchio, from $100,000 to $400,000 yesterday.

Veteri and his family posted an additional $30,000 for him to remain free, after posting 10 percent of the $100,000 bail after he was arrested last week.

Judge Patrick cited Veteri’s lengthy criminal record, which included 11 prior arrests (all for assault or drugs), in raising the bond.

Auricchio will need surgery to repair his fractured left orbital bone and hopes to return to his police officer’s job sometime in March.

…sounds like an upstanding member of the community. Is there some remote Island we can ship this guy to? Alcatraz maybe?
