Steve Zipay at Newsday takes closer look at Rangers 2011 first round pick J.T. Miller, which includes this quote from Gordie Clark, Blueshirts Director of Player Personnel…
“He has Tonelli-type tenacity. Mike Richards is another good comparison, although Richards probably scores more. J.T. is a playmaker who finishes every check. He doesn’t have that beautiful stride like [Marian] Gaborik. He beats you by outworking you.”
Clark adds that Miller possesses an NHL shot and can really rip it.
Miller now has 15 goals this season, after scoring twice in a Plymouth Whalers 8-0 win last night, to go along with 27 assists.
…i sure as heck can live with Miller turning into a Mike Richards type player. Love hearing that the kid can rip it. Rangers could use another sniper.
In other prospect news, Michael St. Croix (2011 – 4th) posted his second five point night of the season last night as he scored a hat trick and added two assists in a 9-2 Oil King win, while Christian Thomas (2010 – 2nd) had a 1g, 1a in an Oshawa General 11-3 victory.
…this St. Croix guy is a sleeper prospect for sure. Looking forward to following this kid’s rise through the ranks of the Rangers organization.
