Kelly Friesen at Buzzing the Net says Dylan McIlrath (2010 – 1st) will be relied on by his team the Moose Jaw Warriors to win a WHL championship this spring…
“McIlrath’s role with the Warriors is vital to their expected playoff success. He will be heavily counted on to shutdown opponents’ top stars. This task obviously won’t be easy for the Winnipeg native with the possibilities of being matched up against the likes of Medicine Hat Tigers sniper Emerson Etem and Brandon Wheat Kings star Mark Stone down the stretch.”
Friesen adds that McIlrath is consistently matched up against opponents’ top scorers as a shutdown specialist.
Here’s McIlrath on his type of game…
“I try to play big and play a shutdown role against teams’ top lines. I play physical and try to make it hard on players who try to go hard to the net and sit around the net looking for rebounds.”
…man I love hearing that McIlrath is this tough, physical defenseman who strikes fear in the mind of opponents.
…hopefully, he can cut down on the headshots because if he’s going to be spending half the time being suspended he’s doing the Rangers no good.
…h/t to Kevin Baumer.
