George Winn Named Big East Offensive Player of the Week

Fresh off a career performance against the Syracuse Orange on Saturday, Bearcats running back George Winn has been named the Big East Offensive Player of the Week. PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The BIG EAST Conference has named Cincinnati running back George Winn, Louisville linebacker Keith Brown and Temple running back Matt Brown, the winners of the conference's weekly football honors for games of Nov. 3.
 
Winn was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after he rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns and added a 37-yard touchdown pass to key Cincinnati’s 35-24 win against Syracuse, moving the Bearcats into third place in the BIG EAST standings. Three of Winn’s four scoring plays gave Cincinnati the lead, while his 2-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter accounted for the final margin of victory. Winn, who finished with 202 yards of total offense, enters this week’s game against Temple as the BIG EAST rushing leader, averaging 112.1 yards per game.
 
Keith Brown was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week after he had eight tackles with one tackle for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the Cardinals’ 45-17 win against Temple, keeping the Cardinals unbeaten at 9-0 and moving Louisville into a first-place tie in the BIG EAST standings at 4-0. Brown led a Louisville defense that allowed just one offensive touchdown and kept Temple off the scoreboard in the second half.
 
Matt Brown earned BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week honors after he returned the opening kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown and finished with a school-record 227 yards on seven kickoff returns (32.4 ypr) in a 45-17 loss at No. 12/10 Louisville. Brown, who also had 39 yards on two punt returns (19.5 ypr), finished the game with 266 all-purpose yards.
