Before I start in with the conference talk and the Marshall preview, let me offer thoughts and prayers to everyone in Connecticut. I don't need to talk about what a horrible story it is. Those people need our love and support right now.
It's really hard to change gears here, but let's try. Cincinnati and Connecticut, according to the Sporting News, have been talking about starting a new league. The league would be Cincinnati, Connecticut, South Florida, Memphis, Boise State, Temple, San Diego State, UNLV, New Mexico and UCF or BYU. BYU is independent in football.
The article goes on to say that UC and UConn are using this for leverage on the ACC and that the ACC should add them now. That second part is a judgment and not an actual fact. I don't know what Cincinnati and Connecticut could do to make this work. Everyone knows that they would bolt at the very first chance they got. My friend Raphielle Johnson at college basketball talk said something similar earlier today. If people don't leave, I'm not entirely sure the ACC would go to 16. Why should they? It's less money for everyone. Threatening to say "We are going to walk way if you don't invite us in to your house. Look at us, we are walking," can result in you walking away against your wishes.
That would be a kick ass basketball league though.
