We’ve done it, people, we’ve made it to the second round. Since I am apparently the only one writing this week, I’ll get things started with a little preview of the Ducks-Wings. Remember the essays you had to write in school, where you had to compare and contrast two different things? I figured that was probably the best way to analyze this Ducks-Wings series, and was a lot easier than figuring out how to write a paragraph about Tomas Kopecky. So, without further ado, similarities and differences.

SIMILARITIES

– Both the Ducks and the Wings beat teams who have never done anything in the playoffs to get to the second round (Sharks and Blue Jackets). Also, each team has managed to win a Cup in the last decade.

– Each team won just as many football games as any NFL franchise in their city this season.

– Neither team really expects Dan Cleary to be the second leading scorer for them in this series, although he was for the Wings against the Blue Jackets in round 1.

DIFFERENCES

– The Ducks feature George Parros, who looks as though he could be a member of the Doobie Brothers, or maybe Earl Hickey

– Anaheim has received good production from young stars Bobby Ryan and Ryan Getzlaf both in the regular and post seasons. The youngest player for the Red Wings is Kirk Maltby at 38.

– The Ducks are named after a full bird, while the Red Wings are named after only a part of one. Make fun of the Ducks for their lame nickname all you want, but what imposing bird has red wings? Red Winged Blackbirds? Cardinals?

Despite all this…. Red Wings in 6
