Creighton defeated Cincinnati 67-63 this afternoon in the NCAA tournament. I don't really want to talk about it right now, so I'm going to say something else instead.
Thank you, Cashmere Wright. I loved watching him play. Out of all the Bearcats that have come down the line in my years of fandom, he had to be one of the toughest. He played through injury and pain every single game. His legacy includes 3 NCAA tournament appearances, the all time steals record, the all time record in games played, third in assists. Cashmere Wright did so much for this program during his 4 years that it's hard to state it all. There is going to be a void next season without him. I really loved watching Cash play. One of my favorites. Thank you, Cashmere.
Thank you, JaQuon Parker. Park had an absolutely terrible game to end his career with, but he had a very good one. He did a lot for this team. They wouldn't have made the tournament without him. He was the glue guy on back to back tournament teams. JaQuon had to overcome a season from hell to end up a starter and captain. He did it. If you told me two years ago that Parker would be a starter and very good, I might have been a little wary. He was that bad. He left a stud. His rebound and putback against Kyle Kuric in the Big East tournament in 2010 is one of my favorite moments. It's etched in my head. That was an NIT team, but that moment was when I really believed Cincinnati was in good shape for the future. Thank you, JaQuon.
Here's the box score from SI. We can relive the game on Monday.
