According to The Tallahassee Democrat, the report lists the victim as intoxicated and with minor abrasions/bruises as a result of the incident. According to the report, the victim was able to describe the suspect to the police and plans to press charges. The report lists the victim’s name and personal information, but does not list a suspect. Two witnesses are also mentioned in the report, but their names were redacted.
State Attorney Willie Meggs told The Tallahassee Democrat he has not brought any charges against Cook currently and the matter is still being reviewed.
This report comes just four days after former freshman quarterback De’Andre Johnson was dismissed from Florida State’s football team. Johnson punched a woman at a Tallahassee bar on June 24 and has been charged with misdemeanor battery. Video of this incident has been released by the State Attorney’s office.
Cook is coming off a standout freshman season on the field for the Seminoles, where he rushed for 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns on 170 carries. He is the first freshman and ninth player in Florida State history to rush for 1,000 yards in one season. He was named to All-ACC Second Team (Media) and All-ACC Third Team (Coaches) and is a 2015 All-American Candidate.
In December, Cook was named in a separate police report of an ongoing investigation of an alleged aggravated assault in July of 2014, according to a statement by the Tallahassee Police Department. This report did not name Cook as a suspect or describe what involvement, if any, Cook had in this incident.
Cook is expected to be the starting running back and play a key role as a major weapon in Florida State’s offense this coming season. According to Florida State’s current football roster, junior Mario Pender, sophomore Johnathan Vicker, and freshman Jacques Patrick are also on the team as running backs.
