Houston
Alex Cooper, RT #60, 6ft 4 in 305lbs
Alex is average height and thin right tackle that is not muscular. He excels in pass blocking as he able to use his athleticism to stay in front of pass rushers. His major flaws are his ability to handle good power rushers due to the lack of leverage and lower body strength he plays with as he is often thrown to the ground. The All-AAC player is also a captain for the Cougars. I expect Cooper to struggle versus the powerful Florida State defensive linemen. He will have an opportunity to be an UDFA due to his athleticism. If Alex can get stronger and play lower he will have an opportunity to play on the NFL level as an interior lineman.
B.J. Singleton, DT #93, 6ft 4in 305lbs
B.J. is a tall run stopping DT with a powerful upper body and a filled out frame. He has the ideal size and strength to be a 4-3 Nose Guard. Singleton comes off the ball low and hard and is able to reestablish the line of scrimmage two or three yards in the offensive backfield. His major flaw is his pursuit and motor as he occasionally does not finish plays that he has an opportunity to make and sometimes even takes plays off all together. B.J. reminds me of Rodney Gunter (Delaware State-Arizona Cardinals) due to his stature, run stopping ability, and motor. This All-AAC selection will be a major factor in stopping the Dalvin Cook led rushing attack of the Seminoles. Singleton will be a Day 3 pick that will be a base down backup for a NFL team.
Elandon Roberts, LB #44, 6ft 0in 235lbs
Roberts is an average height and muscular linebacker that can cover and stop the run. He has elite read and react abilities that allow him to make Interceptions and Pass Break Up’s from reading the QB’s eyes and anticipating throws. Also he has running back like vision that allows him to see open holes and explode through them to make TFL’s on ball carriers. This 1st team All-AAC selection had tremendous production in his first year as a full-time starter since his freshman year at FCS level Morgan State. His major flaw is his open field tackling as it appears that he does not have the footwork or C.O.D.to make tackles on agile ball carriers in space. Elandon vs. Dalvin Cook will be the key matchup of deciding who wins the 2015 Peach Bowl. Roberts should be a Day 3 pick that can be an immediate base down starter at the NFL level.
Florida State
Terrance Smith, LB #24, 6ft 3in 231
Smith is a tall and lean versatile linebacker that can stop the run, cover, and blitz. His playing style is similar to that of Phillip Wheeler (GA Tech-Atlanta Falcons) because of his length and ability to be an effective interior blitzer. Terrance also has the ability to make plays sideline to sideline in the running game and cover TE’s in zone or man coverage. His major flaw is his instincts because at times he does not seem to recognize what opposing offenses are trying to do. This Georgia native will be excited to play his final collegiate game in his home state so I would expect a good performance. Terrance will be a day two pick that will immediately be a starter at ILB for a 3-4 team on all three downs.
Reggie Northrup, LB #5, 6ft 1in 231lbs
Reggie is an average height and muscular linebacker that is a run stopper. He is a physical tackler with a good burst and also good instincts. His major flaw is 2014 Torn ACL that is currently restricting him from being as agile as he can possibly be. This All-ACC selection will be a Day 3 pick that immediately as base down backup and a special teams player for a NFL team.
Jalen Ramsey, #8, 6ft 1in 202lbs (JR)
Jalen is a long but muscular lock down corner. He has a smooth backpedal and great hips to open and run with receivers and the length to guard larger receivers. In press coverage he does a great job of sliding and mirroring to prevent receivers from getting a free release off the L.O.S. His major flaw is his attitude towards run support which is an area where he is rarely an asset for his team. This All-American Corner is expected to declare and be a first round pick that will start immediately for a NFL franchise at outside corner.
