If You’re a Fan of Fun, You Should Be a Fan of This

Right now, the Colorado Avalanche are mulling a decision that could provide NHL fans, media and bloggers with lots and lots of entertainment and writing material. They’re considering hiring Patrick Roy as coach. We all remember Roy as the hot head and general crazy ass superstar that he was with the Canadiens and Avalanche. So, naturally, Roy coming back to the NHL would be a no-brainer.

There’s one little problem. Tony Granato.

See, the Avs haven’t fired him yet. Awkward! But, as soon as they do — because let’s face it this team’s crash and burn at the end of the season was beyond epic — they need to hire Roy. It will keep newspapers in business, fans entertained, give TV stations hockey clips to show over and over and hell, it’s going to be a whole lot of fun if it’s anything like what he and his sons did in the QMJHL (see video)

Which reminds me, there needs to be a clause in the contract that states Roy’s sons will either be hired or drafted by the Avs if he is hired as coach. The Roys have made a habit of keeping the craziness in the family and, please, please, OMG PLEEEZZZ HIRE THEM!!! Think of the possibilities! We might see the first time a coach ever goes over the boards to fight an opposing player or, heck, maybe one of his own players!

And I know I’m asking an awful lot here, but if Roy comes back to Colorado, they need to bring Claude Lemiuex along for old time’s sake.
