Cincinnati Expected To Hire Former Colorado AD

After the events of National Signing Day seemed to end a great day for the University of Cincinnati athletics, rumblings began to pop up on twitter that Santa Ono has found the next Athletic Director and an announcement can come as early as tomorrow. Twitter being as great as it is, can allow people to say whatever and need no proof to back it up. However, Tom Groeschen of the Cincinnati Enquirer reported that Former Colorado Athletic Director Mike Bohn will become the next Athletic Director at UC.

The next logical question of any UC supporter is, who is Mike Bohn? From him bio he was selected as the athletic director at Colorado in 2005 and held that position until his resignation in May 2013. Before that he had stops as athletic director at San Diego State for 2 years and Idaho for 5 years. He worked under current Louisville AD Tom Jurich at Colorado State. Bohn graduated from Kansas University and received his masters degree in sports administration from Ohio University.

His bio on the Colorado Athletics website says this about him:

'He accomplished a lot in his first 100 days on the job, from branching out into the community with Chancellor Phil DiStefano at town meetings, to implementing the YOUR TEAMcampaign to raise significant funds for immediate scholarship and capital project needs.  Several other creative ideas, especially in marketing including Ralphies' Kids Roundup and the Pearl Street Stampede the night before home football games, were established to create better ties with CU and area communities.

Those first 100 days were just the beginning, and six years into his service to CU, he has made major improvements in fundraising, improving CU's facilities, most notably the addition of a practice facility for the basketball and volleyball teams; establishing the Buff Club Cabinet; making huge in-roads in community and campus relations; and working to balance a budget by making tough but necessary cuts, guaranteeing the future success of Colorado's 16 intercollegiate sports."

From the info above, Bohn seems to have done all the tasks at Colorado that he will need to continue at Cincinnati. Excellent fundraiser, facilities improvement, community relations and balancing budgets are just some of the things he has done at his previous job. Not to forget he also was athletic director when Colorado moved to the Pac 12. President Ono said he would find a star and Mike Bohn seems to be the star that UC needs.
