I know the Guys on Ice last week mentioned Mama Staal’s Famous Stanley Cup Casserole. As luck would have it,one of my off ice spies managed to sneak into the Staal family sod farm (they grow good grass) and saw the recipe sitting next to the window. As far as I can remember it, this is the recipe (which tastes great if you’re also doing the
Staal Brothers drinking game, like the fine foxes over at Puck Huffers.)
You will need:
2 large cans cream of mushroom soup
4 packets Ramen noodles (any flavor)
1/2 pound ground beef, browned
fried bacon, to taste (About 1/4 pound)
hot sauce
beer
1: Line a casserole dish with 2 packets of crumbled ramen noodles
2: Fry the bacon, set aside. Resevre grease for a side of toast that also goes well with the dish.
3: Brown the beef and place over the ramen noodles
4: pour about a can’s worth (half a can if it’s a really big one, like a costco can) over the beef
5: Put on another layer of noodles, followed by more beef and more soup. Top with any leftover noodles and any
bacon you haven’t eaten already.
6: Shotgun a beer.
7: Bake at 350 (F) for 45 minutes, or until you’re hungry and ate all the bacon. Serve with beer (we prefer the open
ones) and additional ketchup (or hot sauce if you’re trying to impress a date)
SERVES: 1 hungry Staal.
NOTE: the ingredients can also be put into a burrito for a hot meal on the go or while playing “Get drunk and yell at cars.”
