Instead of celebrating UCs recent win against South Florida this past weekend, Bearcats fans have had to deal with a string of bad news thus far with Gunner Kiel re-injuring his ribs on Friday and the arrest of Marcus Tappan on Saturday night. The bad news for the Bearcats continued today when defensive back Joshua Norwood decommitted on Monday morning.
Norwood was committed to Cincinnati back on June 21st with very few “Power 5” offers. He was under the radar at the time and seemed like a great pickup for Coach Tuberville and staff. Things quickly changed when Ohio State offered him on October 8th. Just recently, Norwood stated he remained committed to the Bearcats but planned on visiting OSU and possibly Wisconsin. As with most situations when a P5 school comes calling, he decided to decommit and officially open up his recruitment. There is no word on whether UC still is in the picture but that seems unlikely.
I would bet that Coach Tuberville and staff knew in advance that they would not be able to hold onto this prospect for long and have already begun evaluating potential replacements. For one, Arkansas transfer Chris Murphy is sitting out this year but will be eligible next season as a sophomore. In addition there are several uncommitted prospects that have some degree of interest in Cincinnati. Either way, the Bearcats will be just fine even with this recent decommitment.
