It is the time of the year, where work comes to a stop
Bars are all packed, efficiency drops
Forgotten is family, your bracket’s your friend
The time of the madness, has come again
A seat on your couch, your stool, your chair
To scream in excitement, or pull out your hair
You wonder aloud, how can you be lucky
When you can’t even guess about Western Kentucky?
A first round with more questions, answers few to be seen
“I’ve never watched this VCU team”
“How can I tell if Saint Bonnie is great,
Or if they can hope to beat Florida State?”
Dukies and Huskies, Orange and Zags
So many become see riches turn into rags
Buckeyes and Buffs, Hoosiers and Bears
Who is Lehigh, and why should I care?
They say that the monkeys can write Shakespeare
But can the monkeys predict the winner this year?
Can they learn from Ol’ Will, the method and madness
Or will learning from history, just end in sadness?
Murray State made it last year, and Butler before
A win as the underdog, a laborious chore
When everyone holds their brackets tights
And prays for your defeat, for just bragging rights
It is hard to enjoy with so much at stake
A tournament of fun, from which to take
A word of advice, something to hold dear
No need to get angry, there’s always next year
